Or I can download a novel by the brother of a friend for just a few bucks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regularguycolumn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/fleeced.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1391\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" title=\"fleeced\" src=\"https:\/\/regularguycolumn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/fleeced-196x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"196\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>That&#8217;s how I ended up making &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Fleeced-Dwain-Smith\/dp\/1452831645\/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1307667448&amp;sr=1-4\">Fleeced<\/a>&#8221; by <a href=\"http:\/\/dwainsmith.com\/home\/2010\/09\/fleeced\/\">Dwain Smith<\/a> my first Kindle read. We know his sister, and I had wanted to read one of his books for a while. We have one on the shelf at home, but I never got around to it. Coincidentally, he announced the release of the Kindle version of &#8220;Fleeced&#8221; the same day I ordered my device.<\/p>\n<p>I really enjoyed this light-hearted treatment of the Jason and the Argonauts legend. The whole thing reminded me of &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/regularguycolumn.com\/blog\/?p=681\">Gods Behaving Badly<\/a>,&#8221; which I read two summers ago.<\/p>\n<p>The notion of taking these other-worldly characters and dropping them into some sort of modern world has so many possibilities. Dwain does a great job at mixing the legend with the modern while taking some liberties with some of the original story in order to make the story just a little more exciting.<\/p>\n<p>With fast-moving action, bad puns in chapter titles and a price under $5 on Kindle, this is something definitely worth a buy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now that I have a Kindle (more on that in next week&#8217;s column), I feel like a whole new world has opened up to me.
