MTV has turned into a shell of itself with horrible &#8220;reality&#8221; shows designed to feed the egos of vapid youngsters eager to shock the world.<\/p>\n<p>Should I have prefaced that with [cranky old man]?<\/p>\n<p>Anyways, I previously mentioned the greatness of Totally 80s on VH1 Classic. This morning, I sat down to enjoy some videos and got wistful. &#8220;Always Something There to Remind Me&#8221; by Naked Eyes started off the block with Robert Palmer&#8217;s &#8220;Simply Irresistible&#8221; coming next.<\/p>\n<p>I have a soft spot for that song because of something that happened at college which I will have to blog about sometime.<\/p>\n<p>The fun didn&#8217;t end there, though. What could be the quintessential 80s video came on.  <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Producers_%28band%29\" target=\"_blank\">The Producers<\/a> came out of Atlanta in the early 80s. &#8220;What&#8217;s He Got&#8221; was their only real hit, but they punctuated it with this outstanding video.<\/p>\n<p>Between the campy intro, the over-exaggerated facial expressions, and the bouncing keyboard player who eventually comes off his riser with the keyboard around his neck, they hit most of the key elements of a great video.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"425\" height=\"355\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/0Lx2vH2Q5yo&#038;hl=en\"><\/param><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\"><\/param><\/object><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the greatest crimes of the last 20 years is the decline of the music video.
