I know I will eventually escape the daily grind.<\/p>\n<p>Until now, I always thought I would achieve this goal the American way, by winning the lottery. I recently found out that the path will go through Australia, and I will actually have to keep on working.<\/p>\n<p>The Australian state of Queensland is accepting applications for what they call the best job in the world. I know this thing has my name written all over it.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->First off, the job comes with a golf cart. I have always wanted a golf cart. I know I try to stay young at heart, but when it comes to golf carts, I&#8217;m like a retired guy.<\/p>\n<p>I would love nothing than to make the golf cart my primary mode of transportation. The only problem is that it would take a really long time to drive to my current job in a golf cart. Plus, my wife won&#8217;t let me.<\/p>\n<p>That won&#8217;t be a problem when I spend a year in Australia making more than $100,000 taking care of Hamilton Island. That&#8217;s the job they have put out there for other people to chase in a futile effort before they realize that they have to hire me.<\/p>\n<p>Second of all, they give you a place to stay. The gig comes with a three-bedroom house and transportation to and from Australia. I will have to pay to bring my wife and daughter with me, but that&#8217;s not a deal-breaker.<\/p>\n<p>The rules do say you can&#8217;t bring an unlimited number of people with you. I guess that kind of rule applies to me who would have no problem shifting my family&#8217;s annual beach vacation to Australia for this year. They probably don&#8217;t want 30-some members of my family coming along for the ride. I don&#8217;t know if I would either to be honest.<\/p>\n<p>However, I think the sands of Australia would make a perfect setting for a Shea cornhole tournament. The tourism board has no idea how many people would want to come to the area after we stream one of those events over the Internet.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, I know I can do all the things that they need the person in this position to do. I can feed the fish. I can collect the mail. And I can clean the pool.<\/p>\n<p>OK, the last thing might be a stretch, but I am sure I can figure it out. They say that the pool has an automatic filter so that will greatly reduce the difficulty.<\/p>\n<p>All that leaves is for me to explore all the things the region has to offer and report back to help grow tourism. I can totally talk about how awesome the place is.<\/p>\n<p>My only problem with this whole exercise is that the position only lasts for six months. I don&#8217;t really want to leave the area and all that for the rest of my life, but I will probably need to go back to work once this Australian dream comes to an end.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll need to find something that lets me continue to live the golf-cart lifestyle.
