Twenty-five years, seven months and two weeks after R.E.M. released Murmur, its first full-length studio album, an anniversary special edition will come out. The release is scheduled for Nov. 25.
As an R.E.M. geek, I can’t wait for this. The two-CD set will include a re-mastered version of the album as well as a CD of a live show which took place just a few weeks after the album’s release. I think I already have this show somewhere, but I can’t get enough of early 1980s R.E.M. shows so will buy it no matter what.
The set will also include interviews and essays by Mitch Easter and Don Dixon, the producers of Murmur, as well as some record company executives who helped the band in the early days. This kind of stuff will hopefully be filled with the minutiae that I need to survive.
Excellent, thanks for the heads up!
