So Elton John has decried the Internet as destroying society, suggesting that the Web should be shut down for five years (as if there’s a headquarters that can simply pull the plug) because “(t)he Internet has stopped people from going out and being with each other, creating stuff.”
First off, the Internet has created so many new avenues for creation. He says music is being harmed by the Internet, but I wouldn’t have heard of at least half the music I have bought in the past few years without the Internet. I also wouldn’t know anything about this video, but that’s a different story.
But more importantly, if we didn’t have the Internet, we wouldn’t have the ability to read this glorious interview with one William Zabka, better known as Johnny Lawrence from “The Karate Kid.”At a time when so much of the media is obsessed with characters like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, Zabka reminds us that it’s OK to play the douchebag on the screen, but be a normal person off the screen.
Yeah when I wanna go out to a club in LA and I know it’s gonna be a long line, I just put on a bandanna and the red leather jacket and I get right in.
This is a guy you want to go drink a beer with. He also said he actually learned martial arts after Karate Kid because so many people thought they were funnytrying to fight him.
Maybe we could send him to go kick some sense into Elton John.
