The nominations for Emmys were released today and showed why this is the only relevant award show out there. The Oscars and Grammys have long showed they don’t care whether fans feel connected to the winners. Television, however, remains the medium of the people.
First off, Justin Timberlake and several others received a nomination for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for the Saturday Night Live song “Dick in a Box.” The version below is the uncensored version.
This amazingly funny song will go against such high-brow fare as “Guy Love” and Everything Comes Down to Poo” from Scrubs along with “My Drunken Irish Dad” from Family Guy.” You don’t see stuff like that in the Oscar race.
I’m very excited about so many other nominations. James Spader and William Shatner were nominated for Boston Legal. Neil Patrick Harris was nominated for How I Met Your Mother. A host of Grey’s Anatomy nominations came in, including the chick who played Jane Doe after the ferry crash. And supporting actress in a comedy will come down to (hopefully) Pam Beesly and Joy Turner.
