I have not had this feeling for two or three years. I don’t have an episode of “Mad Men” awaiting me. I didn’t get into the show until a few years ago and slowly worked my way through the catalog. I watched the final episode of the most recent season earlier this week.

Oh, since I’m talking about something that has aired on television, you bet your bottom dollar I might “spoil” it. So if you think I need to write on your viewing schedule, stop reading now.

I know a new season will come soon enough, but I can’t stand the wait after Don Draper paused before answering the question “Are you alone?” while he sat in a bar with a drink during his wife’s commercial shoot.

Part of me wants him to say he’s married because that would show emotional growth, but that would ruin all the fun unless he says he’s married and hooks up with someone from the bar anyway. Part of me wants him to lie and be the old Don, the one Roger saw getting mad about business. Even though I know that is the likely scenario, I would be bummed because that’s kind of what we expect.

In short, I don’t know what I want and really don’t know what to expect. That’s why I yelled at the TV when the credits started to roll. I usually had another set of DVDs, another season lined up on Netflix, but now I actually have to (shudder) wait until the Season 6 starts.

I followed this season via Amazon’s streaming video. I wanted the freedom of watching whenever I wanted, plus had some discount codes so didn’t have to pay full price. Some friends asked me why I didn’t just watch them OnDemand, which is another good option. I didn’t want to have to rush to watch them before they disappeared from OnDemand, wanted the flexibility to watch on my computer and also just wanted to try out the service. I also didn’t want to hog up DVR space.

I might do it again for a drama like this where I will watch a bunch of episodes at a time, but I might also pass if I know the show will end up on Netflix eventually. That’s how I watch “Louie.” I just started Season 2 since it just hit Netflix and won’t watch the current season, most likely, until next summer. I don’t mind waiting for shows I know I won’t make room for in my weekly viewing.

The reality, however, is that I could never wait for “Mad Men” next season after the way they left us hanging. I’m a sucker. Other thoughts on the season:

• Very curious to see where Peggy goes after leaving the firm and what happens to Ken Cosgrove.
• Can’t get enough of people punching Pete. That said, how does that guy get so much tail?
• Even though I knew that Lane died by the time I watched, it was still incredibly gripping.
• The final scene with Sally and Betty was touching and hopefully will set up an epic fight next season. What the hell is Betty doing telling that girl that her period tells her body that she’s ready to have a baby? Seriously, woman!
• Roger Sterling is my TV hero.
