A couple of years ago, no one knew Katherine Heigl. If you look at her IMDB profile, you might not realize she had such a good career before “Grey’s Anatomy” (I had totally forgotten she was part of the torture called “My Father The Hero“) but she wasn’t one of those people who immediately leapt to mind.
Then she got Grey’s. Then she got “Knocked Up.” Then she got a big mouth. She had been very outspoken in the whole TR Knight-Isaiah Washington flap and in some contract issues for the Grey’s stars.
But now she’s decided she has some issues with the movie that gave her the platform to speak in the first place.
(“Knocked Up”) paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys. Ninety-eight percent of the time it was an amazing experience, but it was hard for me to love the movie
Yes, it must be hard to love something that made people laugh, made you a decent chunk of change and will push your asking price for future jobs up a little bit.
It’s a freaking comedy, Katherine. A fictional comedy. You’re not trying to teach us some great moral lesson. You and your co-stars in the film were there for pot jokes, easy digs at lazy guys and some good physical comedy. We liked it. Don’t go screwing it up by confusing a movie with real life.
