Down the Homestretch

I haven’t posted about Beer Appreciation in a while. I’m getting closer to finishing the case. So here goes on the ones I have had recently.

Bells Winter White Ale: Not my favorite style, but I enjoyed this one about as much as I could. I found it much more tasty when mixed with some chocolate, Hershey’s Kisses to be exact.

Victory Moonglow Weizenbock: Again, a style I don’t normally choose, but something I enjoy on occasion. I made sure to really savor the tastes in my mouth and think that made all the difference in the world.

Weyerbacher Double Simcoe IPA: A good, solid IPA that had a kick, but didn’t really make me pay the price to enjoy it. The taste was smoother than I expected so it kind of came as a treat in the long run.

Sam Adams Hallertau Imperial Pilsner: Now this is a damn good beer. Little extra bite on the first sip, but the taste buds that love the hops took that in stride and made the rest of this one one of the best on the list. I have been leaning away from Sams beers in recent months, but this is one that will bring me back to the fold.

I also managed to try two different beers from the Erie Brewing Co. I just happened to see them at the liquor store and decided to see what they had to offer.

The Misery Bay IPA was OK. I usually like IPAs so I had high hopes for this one which didn’t completely pan out. I didn’t have a problem and would drink the beer again, but the price ($8.99 a sixer) was a little much for the enjoyment I got from this beer. I would get the Mad Anthony’s APA at that price though. That had a much fuller taste for me and gave me less to complain about.

  1. I am currently drinking Elephant beer and Irish Ale. This is all from winning a bet. Though was supposed to receive McEwans Scotch Ale but haven’t been able to find in Madison. Tried that one yet?
